Voi launches recruitment drive through Government’s Kickstart Scheme

Voi is recruiting 25 young people to its UK operations in Liverpool, Cambridge, Bristol, Oxford, Portsmouth, Southampton, Birmingham and Northampton.

The new positions are being offered through the Government’s Kickstart Scheme which is helping to create new jobs for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.

Each recruit will have a job for six months and will benefit from extensive training in skills from customer service to problem-solving, as well as access to workshops that develop their transferable skills to help them succeed in the jobs market. The young people will also be given the opportunity to gain experience in Voi’s central function departments such as marketing, communications and HR. Applications are open now and interested applicants should speak to their local jobc entre about the opportunities.

Jack Samler, UK general manager at Voi, said: “We are proud to become a Kickstart employer and we want to inspire the next generation to work in low-carbon micro-mobility because changing the way we travel around urban areas will bring so many benefits for our environment. Taking your first step into the world of work is often daunting but also exciting. Voi operates in an industry that is growing fast and we can promise young people will find this a brilliant place to work.

“As we continue our recovery from the pandemic, it is vital that young people who have been hit very hard over the last 18 months are given the opportunity to learn new skills in the heart of our dynamic company and strengthen their CVs so they can get on in life.”

Voi will recruit 18 fleet specialists whose roles will include working in customer relations and completing minor e-scooter maintenance. Fleet specialists will also help Voi’s teams across the country in promotion and safety events.

The warehouse operative will work closely with the warehouse manager, assisting with inventory and stock management as well as other duties such as deploying vehicles in the operating areas.

Steve Jacobs, senior manager of talent and acquisitions for markets at Voi, said: “It’s a really exciting time to join Voi. Our e-scooters and e-bikes have facilitated millions of journeys across the UK as more and more people embrace micro-mobility in their daily lives and we have some great opportunities for young people to join this dynamic company.

“It doesn’t matter if you have limited work experience as we’ll provide training to all new staff and the opportunity to learn new transferable skills for the future. If you’re ready for a new challenge and want to be part of a company that is changing transport for the better, then Voi is the place for you.”

Since the launch of the first e-scooter trials last year, Voi has created more than 200 job opportunities across the UK and as the company continues to expand, it will continue to provide further technical and non-technical work opportunities.
