Voi wins ‘Startup of the Year’ at Nordic Startup Awards

Swedish micromobility company Voi Technology has been awarded the Startup of the Year 2020 by the Nordic Startup Awards.

Since launching in August 2018, Voi has expanded to more than 50 cities including Berlin, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Helsinki, Liverpool, Marseille, Oslo and Stockholm.

Kim Balle, founder and CEO of the Global and Nordic Startup Awards, said: “Voi has been a success story not only in the Nordic countries but throughout Europe. There is a growing demand for sustainable and green mobility around the world, and Voi is responding to this call with its electric scooters that solve many of the challenges of our time.

“This has become very clear during the pandemic when the authorities have recommended avoiding public transport, and electric scooters have proven to be very useful for mobility. When you have both a good idea and a working product, people want to invest in it, and that’s reflected in Voi’s development.”

Fredrik Hjelm, CEO and co-founder of Voi, added: “We are thrilled and honored to receive this award. 2020 has been a landmark year for us and while we are expanding and growing as a company at a fast pace, we stay true to our vision of cities made for living.

“Our teams truly deserve this recognition, and so do the six million users who are embracing our convenient, safe and sustainable service – which will play a key role for the future of mobility.”
