The M-E1 folding bike from Montague

Montague launches full-size step-through folding e-bikeĀ

US bike brand Montague has launched a unique full-size folding e-bike, designed to help urban riders save space.Ā

The Montague M-E1 is a performance trekking e-bike, with 700c wheels and a mid-drive motor system, that folds with the use of a single quick release mechanic.Ā

Aimed at for riders who live in an urban environment who may be limited on space, the M-E1 features a patent-pending design and comes with the Shimano Steps E6100 motor system.Ā

ā€œWe set out to build an e-bike for the urban environment ā€“ for riders that have been deterred from owning an e-bikeĀ  due to space constraints, concerns about security, and a lack of portability with the current designs,ā€ said DavidĀ  Montague, president and founder of Montague Bikes. ā€œThe urban mobility market is growing quickly in today’sĀ  crowded cities, and commuters are looking for options. Riders need an e-bike that can deliver top-tier performanceĀ  and stow in the closet, train, or car trunk. The foldable M-E1 is the solution.ā€Ā

The weight of Ā the bike is supported by the double-leg kickstand during folding, so riders don’t need to lift or support the bike.

Once folded, the bike can be rolled for transport by holding the handlebar and simply tilting the bike onto the Ā wheels.

For more compact storage, the handlebars fold with an Ā additional quick release, creating a 38″ x 38″ x 13″ package that can be stowed in tight spaces.Ā

The compact, lightweight, and powerful 250W motor is paired with a 36V / 418Wh lithium battery pack that provides Ā up to 80 kilometres of pedal assist on a single charge. The bike features a Shimano Deore drivetrain and an SR Suntour NEX suspension fork, with Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes.Ā

M-E1 retails for $3,995.00.Ā
