In the cycle industry we are best known as the U.K. and Irish distributor for Ortlieb luggage, Salsa and Bombtrack bicycles, Teravail tyres, 7mesh apparel, Arundel accessories, Tubus racks, Hydrapak hydration and Julbo eyewear. As Cycle is one of four divisions within the Company, our extensive portfolio also includes quality outdoor accessory brands, making us a unique distributor to many cycle stores throughout the UK. Our company aim is to provide equipment and expertise to ‘venture further’ to the Cycle, Outdoor, Watersports, Work at Height and Rescue industries. We pride ourselves on being a supplier of quality products in the cycling market, enabling riders to push their boundaries and extend their horizons, whether this is on their daily commute, bikepacking or racing an enduro on the weekend. In addition to distribution, we manufacture our own Lyon branded products and provide technical training for the Work at Height and Rescue industries. The role: Due to continued growth and diversification within Lyon’s Cycle division, we are seeking to appoint a Southern Cycle Representative to cover the South of the UK (see sales territory map in application pack). We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and organised individual to further enhance the service we provide to our customers and larger cycling community within this area. A strong passion for cycling and knowledge of our products would be highly advantageous. The job is perfectly suited to someone from a cycle sales background, who is equally comfortable meeting with customers and end consumers, as well as carrying out role specific administrative functions. As a Cycle Representative at Lyon, the successful candidate will work closely with the Sales and Marketing team to sell and promote us and our portfolio of brands to both new and existing cycle customers and the cycling community. Main duties within this role: To proactively promote Lyon Cycle Working alongside the Cycle Market Manager and team to meet and exceed sales objectives, grow revenue and optimise profitability in line with department and brands strategies Service and develop existing accounts – via face to face, telephone, online meetings and email contact etc Actively seek out and follow up on new business opportunities, while developing strong and ongoing business relationships and service with existing and prospective customers Lead presentations and training of our portfolio of products via a range of mediums, where necessary, to key stake holders Coordinate with other team members and departments to optimise the sales and marketing effort Promotion of Lyon Cycle and our portfolio of brands and product at national and international trade shows, product launches, events and other sales initiatives. Where necessary event organisation may be required. Participate in regular sales meetings, at our Head Office in Tebay, or a pre-agreed location Ensure calendars, shop reports and information are kept up to date through use of the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) Provide a range of reports relating to territory sales to Management Promote Lyon Cycle and our portfolio to key press contacts, while developing and maintaining relationships, in line with department strategies Effective management of personal workload through advance diary planning to ensure minimum working outside of normal hours A considerable amount of self-managed travelling, predominantly driving, with overnight stays whilst on the road as required to ensure best use of time and fuel Take part in supplier meetings when required Content creation to enhance the digital presence of our business and brands Keep up to date with portfolio product and market trends including competitor products Ensure samples are well maintained and accounted for Any other duties as necessitated by the needs of the business The person we seek will meet the following criteria: Have a genuine passion for cycling and a good understanding of how our products fit into the relevant cycling market segments Be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a team Have a proven track record of sales, ideally within the cycle industry Have a confident and outgoing manner with excellent interpersonal skills Be organised, articulate, numerate and computer literate Enjoy learning and development Be a confident user of social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter, to increase the reach of our brands and events Hold a current full car driving licence (preferably clean) and a current passport The successful candidate will be provided with the following: Computer, tablet and mobile phone Use of a company vehicle All necessary and reasonable stationery and consumables Staff bicycle Hours of work: This is a full-time position which on average equates to 37.5 hours a week. We would expect the majority of work to be carried out between Monday and Friday, however this position will require regular overnight stays and some weekend working.
