Design Engineer

Website FLIT (Cambridge) Ltd

FLIT is hiring!

We are a young team of engineers and designers having fun designing incredible lightweight folding ebikes for urban commuters. We’re looking for a design engineer who is creative and has a good appreciation of design. We are currently expanding our product range, so the role will be focused mainly on the mechanical design of our next generation of folding ebike. It’s an exciting time to get involved in the early stages of a completely new product development project as part of a small team.

This role is for you if…

You want to get your teeth into all aspects of the product development journey, from the initial concept, through to seeing your designs in customers hands, and beyond. You like to consider different points of view when designing something and you’d be equally happy looking for inspiration on Dezeen as in a cycling magazine or The Prepared newsletter. You want to work as part of a small, close-knit, team to develop products that real people will use and enjoy. Not to mention you’re a bit of a bike geek at heart…

Here’s what you’ll need to have;

  • CAD skills – (ideally Solidworks) with some experience with surfaces
  • A degree in engineering
  • An interest in applied arts/product design

Brownie points if you have experience with;

  • Designing products
  • Designing mechanisms
  • Coding in Python/playing with microcontrollers
  • Composites
  • FEA
  • Compliance

Here’s what you don’t need;

  • Years of experience
  • A sharp suit – leave that at home

Here’s what we can offer you;

We’re a small team so you’ll have lots of autonomy and opportunity to try new things. You’ll be designing bikes that are beautiful, lightweight and a pleasure to use. You’ll also be involved in prototyping and testing designs. As an early employee, we’ll be offering share options as well as a starting salary in the range £25k-30k.
